Along with many of its benefits, modern life has given man a major setback too – a stressful life. Yoga and Ayurveda combined together can provide an effective solution to this omnipresent problem. Ayurveda suggests that you should maintain good health even at the expense of all your other worldly possessions. ‘Samkhya’ one of the six major schools of Indian philosophy is the base of both Yoga and Ayurveda. Although Yoga and Ayurveda differ drastically in method, they both aim at one thing, the well being of body and mind.
Swami Gorakhnath the founder of Agasthya Sidha Asram gives equal importance to body and mind. According to him one cannot completely ignore the body for attaining higher spiritual levels. Indian philosophy treats both body and mind as two wings of the same bird and in order to fly a perfect harmony between the two as well as the perfect well being of two are required. He never advocate the negation of life, but he take life in it’s affirmative way, with all it’s positive aspects. Ayurveda is the art of healthy living that enables you to find a perfect harmony between your body and mind. Whereas modern medical science treats only the infected part, Ayurveda treats body as a whole. Along with curing ailments, Ayurveda gives equal importance to preventive measures too whereas Yoga is a way of life. What Yoga does essentially is establishing a perfect balance between positive and negative energy.

Born in 1964 Swami Gorakhnath joined the Indian Military Service as a Technician after completing his education. But during the later years he realized that he had bigger roles to play, greater dreams to achieve. So he quit the military to follow the spiritual path that led him to the Sivananda Ashram where he spent five years as a Yoga teacher. After learning Yoga and Siddha medicine and after acquiring in-depth knowledge in Indian Philosophy and spirituality from eminent masters and Gurus, Swamiji established the Agastya Siddha Ashram in Edavanakkad in the year 2000. Then onwards the Ashram has become a sanctuary for many. For those who seek cure for their bodily ailments, for those who are after a higher pursuit called spirituality, or for those who simply want to learn Kalari or Ayurveda. Every year he undertakes spiritual journeys to the Himalayas with interested groups and holds ‘Samvadas’ (interactive learning sessions) with eminent sages there.
